I understand the argument, but I do not see RoboCap as a replacement for learning spray control. For me it is another tool — the same artist still decides composition, movement, pressure, distance and when the effect should be used.

Exactly — artists have modified caps for a long time. RoboCap does not invent the idea of changing a spray pattern; my part is making the paint delivery repeatable with controlled pulses and interchangeable shapes.

A stencil is still a perfectly good tool. The difference is that RoboCap can repeat marks without placing/repositioning a physical stencil, including on surfaces where a stencil is awkward or the paint underneath is still wet.

@stuk.one imagine having fun and whimsy. Tools make small repetitive tasks easier. Sure I can use a hand-cranked drill... or I can spend a few extra bucks on an electric and get it done faster. Either way works, gets good results, and is valid imo.

@stuk.one well I understand that, but it's like an artist using a stamp. It's just for an extra fun tool. I know how to draw flowers and hearts, but sometimes it's less tedious to just use a stamp, thus making the process more enjoyable

@dmitry.boska no you should patent the attachments too, like the person above me said, other people can charge you to use it if they patent it. so definitely do it asap

It is not meant to replace every stencil. If a stencil is faster for your piece, use a stencil. RoboCap is useful when you want many repeated marks, adjustable pulse behavior, or a pattern while the can is moving. @vestthevillain it's sorta the same argument as having a nice chef knife over literally just any knife if you're just making a sandwich, I don't know if you're the target market for the niche this is a cool tool worth the extra money for

@vestthevillain stencils are difficult to get clean results with if you do not take the time to prep properly, can be near impossible to use on rough surfaces with nice results, and also cannot be used over wet paint. Stencils can also degrade with time and use and have to be remade or repurchased or cleaned as paint layers build up, and definitely aren't as fast. For a shape like this hand painting may actually make more sense than a stencil if you practice a bit, but either way neither would be as fast as this.

“Procreate brushes in real life” is honestly a pretty good description of the direction 😄 Different physical brushes/patterns, but the hand and the idea are still yours.
